Severe shortage of specialist personnel
The global energy industry has experienced a lot of growth recently, on the back of ever increasing worldwide energy demands and the recent record high oil prices. However, the industry's ability to deliver new energy projects is
severely limited by a shortage of engineers, geologists and skilled field personnel.
Over the next 10-20 years, the industry will require about 30%
more technical personnel, across all areas of the industry; but the industry has an aging workforce with 50% of the current pool of engineers and geologists
due to retire over the next 15 years, it is suffering from an image problem for the younger generation and there is also a geographical issue, with serious
skills shortages in growth markets like Africa, the Middle East, and Russia.
The current talent shortage and ongoing loss of institutional
knowledge as older energy professionals retire, has created an urgent need for companies in the oil and gas industry to evaluate and update their approach
to recruiting, developing, deploying and connecting their people.
Tomnay Noble is working with our clients to source and retain
talents in this dynamic and challenging industry.
